You might have seen the scaffolding, skips and hard hats around Audlem Methodist Church recently. It’s all in aid of a major renovation, which Property Steward Nancy-May Goodwin hopes will make it, “the greenest church in Cheshire, if not the North-West!” You can see for yourself by popping in to see the work in progress as part of Audlem’s Climate and Nature Event on Saturday, 18 September between 10 am and 4 pm.
“We’re doing it because the building needs it,” says Nancy-May, “but we’re also doing it because, faced by a climate and nature emergency, it’s the right thing to do.”
To read more about how the church's renovations will help climate and nature click here. To donate to enable evenmore energy saving installations at Audlem Methodist Church, visit the church's website and click on the 'Donate with DONA' button at the top of the page.

However, if you do walk down there please respect the wedding celebrations and do not go beyond the driveway.
As part the display, Battle of Britain music will play, there will be sirens sounding and a firework display including mortars which will simulate the sound of battle. It could be a noisy few minutes!

The Hankelow Neighbourhood Plan Referendum result was published on May 9th - you can see the declaration below.
Thank you to everyone who voted!
This item was submitted by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group
A Referendum will take place on Thursday, May 6th
in the Hankelow Community Hall, to decide the following question, yes
or no:-
“Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for
Hankelow to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood
area?”
It is a legally binding vote of residents of
Hankelow to choose if they want to adopt the Neighbourhood Plan.
Residents should already have received a voting card or postal vote if
they are registered to vote.
If adopted by the parish’s residents the
Neighbourhood Plan would become a legal planning document. It would
form part of the local development plan for Cheshire East, and have
significant weight in making decisions on planning applications.
Decisions on planning within the Hankelow parish
area will be made by Cheshire East Planning Dept using the Cheshire
East Local Plan and the other National planning documents, which do
not include specific requirements of individual parishes such as
Hankelow.
Whether you vote or not is entirely your
decision.
The Neighbourhood plan together with other
relevant documents can be viewed online at:-
A web search for “Hankelow Neighbourhood Plan” is
the quickest way to find the page.
If you are unable to view the plan online, there
are some hard copies available. Contact Gin Foster on 01270 811558.

You are invited to attend Cheshire East Councils upcoming online Covid-19 information and scams awareness session. This session is available to all Cheshire East residents and those who volunteer or work within our Communities, so please share within anyone you think would benefit from it.
Criminals are using the Covid-19 pandemic as an opportunity to exploit and defraud members of our communities. The fraudsters are using the uncertainty around peoples financial situations, their loneliness and isolation and the vaccination rollout to profit illegally. In order to try and combat these crimes and to support our community to feel/be safe, our session will focus on the scams which have seen an increase during the pandemic, how to spot them, where to report them and the support available to victims. We will be highlighting the work being carried out in our communities by some of our teams and partners. We will cover the vaccination rollout and provide trusted sources of information on Covid-19 topics, so that everyone can keep up to date with the latest information. You will have the option to ask our speakers questions and following the session we will send you an email detailing the various pieces of information we cover.
Date: 9th February 2021. Start time: 1pm, end time: 3pm
Where: Online (via Microsoft Teams)

We’ve had a couple of queries about volunteer drivers and if still covered under their car insurance, so I thought it would be useful to share this information wider.
It would appear that the previous Association of British Insurers (ABI) scheme of pledges to provide cover for drivers who are volunteering will continue until at least 19/3/21, however, there are different rules for each insurance company about if the insurance company needs to be advised or not. See the full list here.
