2nd May 2017
This time last year we were making arrangements for our Summer Fete, which took place on June 19th. The event was a great success, and after paying out £200 to the Crewe Concert Band and £225 to the Vale Royal Falconry Display we were able to give a £500 donation to each of our chosen charities, St Luke's Hospice and Bloodwise. We also gave £100 to Hankelow Methodist Church and £50 each to the Fire Fighter's Charity and Musicland. We gave £30 to the RSPCA and £30 to Greenbank for use of electricity. We were able to purchase a new gas urn, which was a great help in the refreshment marquee.
We provided refreshments at the Transport Festival, on the village green, at the end of July.
33 people joined us for our annual coach trip on September 4th. This year we went to Norton Priory and everyone enjoyed the afternoon.
Over 70 people enjoyed an Autumn Supper at Brookfield Golf Club on October 27th. There was good food, a challenging quiz and a lovely, friendly atmosphere.
This year's Summer Fete will be held on June 18th. The Crewe Concert Band will be entertaining us and there will be a display by the Vale Royal Falconry. There will be the usual stalls and refreshments. We will be raising funds for the British Heart Foundation in memory of Roy Hill who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Events coming up in the future are a walk and guided tour of Hankelow Hall on July 16th, and a visit to Ness Gardens on September 3rd.
We always welcome more helpers and new ideas. We meet once a month, and the date of the meeting is always on the website.
Our aim is to organise events through the year bringing all ages together with the feeling of community spirit, and we ask for your continued support.
